Mercy's Gate understands the challenges our neighbors face and provides relief through our director services for those struggling in El Paso County. Sadly, 40% of residents in the county live paycheck to paycheck and fall short of their monthly budget by an average of $1000 due to the effects of inflation, high cost of living, and low wages. We recognize that poverty is defined by a lack of resources in various areas, such as finances, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being, support systems, education, and career opportunities. To receive our direct services, you must be an El Paso County resident and bring a valid driver’s license or photo ID. Direct services include housing assistance (Mondays only), utility assistance, medical assistance, household and clothing assistance, transportation assistance, food pantry assistance, compassion services, and seasonal services.
Mercy’s Gate offers programs such as Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), Backpack Bash, Holiday Meal Kit and Home for the Holidays at specific times of the year. Click below to find out when and how to participate in each one.
